Tailoring Terms

These terms apply to every bespoke, made-to-measure and Replica order placed with Jonathan Quearney, whether at our King's Road studio, at a visit to you, or online.

1. Your order

  • An order is confirmed when you have chosen your cloth and style, your measurements have been taken, and we have received your deposit.
  • We confirm the details in writing by email: garment, cloth, style notes, price and estimated timing.

2. Price and payment

  • Bespoke and made to measure: a deposit of 50% of the order price is payable when the order is placed, and the balance at the final fitting. Replica: the full price is payable when the order is placed.
  • Prices are agreed in writing at the time of order and include VAT.

3. Timings

  • Bespoke garments take approximately 10 to 15 weeks, with three fittings; a 6 to 8 week express service is available. Made-to-measure garments take approximately 7 to 8 weeks, with two fittings; a 4-week express service is available in selected English cloths.
  • These are estimates. Handwork, cloth supply and fitting availability can affect them, and we will keep you informed of any change.

4. Cloth

  • We check cloth availability with the mill or merchant when you place your order, and the cloth is then ordered for your garment. If, exceptionally, it becomes unavailable after that, we will offer you a comparable alternative or a refund of your deposit.

5. Fittings

  • Fittings are held at our King's Road studio, or at a location agreed with you.
  • If you need to move a fitting, please give us at least 48 hours' notice. Missed fittings may delay completion.
  • If your weight or shape changes significantly during the making of your garment, further work may be needed and may be charged.

6. Cancellation

  • Bespoke and made to measure: if you cancel before your cloth has been ordered, we refund your deposit less our appointment fee of £200.
  • Once your cloth has been ordered, we keep 25% of the order price, which covers our appointment fee, and refund the rest of what you have paid.
  • Replica: if you cancel before your cloth has been ordered, we refund the full price. Once it has been ordered, we keep 25% of the price and refund the rest.
  • If we fail to deliver your garment within a reasonable time, you may cancel and we will refund what you have paid. A reasonable time takes into account the timings in section 3 and delays outside our control, including severe weather and other events beyond anyone's control, courier delays and delays by third-party cloth merchants and makers.
  • Where your order is taken at your home or office, we will give you the cancellation information the law requires at the time of your order.
  • None of this affects your statutory rights, including your right to garments made with reasonable care and skill.

7. Collection and delivery

  • When your garment is ready, you can collect it from the studio or we can deliver it to you (any delivery charge is confirmed at the time).
  • Garments not collected within 90 days of our notice that they are ready may be stored at a charge, or disposed of after written notice.

8. Alterations and aftercare

  • We will make reasonable adjustments to your garment free of charge within 3 months of collection, provided your measurements have not changed significantly.
  • After that, alterations and repairs are offered at our standard rates.
  • Our alterations service is for garments we have made. Garments made elsewhere are altered only by prior agreement.

9. Your information

  • We keep your measurements and fitting notes so we can make for you again. How we use and store them is set out in our Privacy Policy.

10. Replica: your original garment

  • We need your original garment for up to 2 weeks from the day we receive it.
  • We return it with your Replica, unless you ask us to send it back sooner.
  • Your Replica is made to the measurements of the garment you send. Any changes must be agreed in writing before work begins. The cloth, construction and finish are ours and may differ from your original.
