Bespoke tailor in East Grinstead and Forest Row
Jonathan Quearney is a Savile Row-trained bespoke tailor who lives near Forest Row. His studio is on the King’s Road in Chelsea, but for customers in East Grinstead, Forest Row, Ashurst Wood, Hartfield, Lingfield, Dormansland, Turners Hill and Crawley Down, home is closer, and visits here are the easiest of all to arrange.
We come to you with cloth bunches, pattern books and tape. The first appointment takes about an hour: a conversation about what the garment is for and how you dress, cloth on the table, and your measurements. Fittings happen at home as well, in the evening or at the weekend if that suits, with your own shirts and shoes to hand.
Bespoke suits are cut from a pattern drafted for you alone and finished over three fittings, from £4,000. Made-to-measure suits, with two fittings, are from £1,750. Jackets, overcoats, trousers and shirts are made the same way.
Weddings and occasions
A good share of what we make locally is for weddings: the groom, sometimes the groomsmen and the father of the bride, in a suit that is worn again afterwards rather than hired and forgotten. Tell us the date at the first appointment and we will say plainly whether bespoke, made to measure or an express order is the right route. Every appointment is with Jonathan himself, and we are happy to give you time to understand what is involved and to reflect before you decide to go ahead.
“I was married in a brown velvet suit, and it’s the best suit I’ve ever owned. My other half wears his all the time. They’re hard-wearing, well put together, and unmistakably good.”

It takes about an hour and there is no charge. We bring cloth bunches, pattern books and tape, talk about what you want the garment for and how you like to dress, and take your measurements and notes on how you stand and move. You are left with a clear idea of cloth, style and price, and we are happy to give you time to reflect before you decide to go ahead.

Often, yes. Tell us the date at the first appointment and we will say plainly whether bespoke, made to measure or an express order is the right route. Made to measure takes 7 to 8 weeks and bespoke 10 to 15, with quicker options when the diary allows.
